Mobile App ROI UAE: Unlocking Revenue Growth for Retailers
Discover how UAE retailers can unlock revenue growth with mobile apps, with ROI examples and cost breakdowns in AED.
iOS and Android development costs, React Native vs Flutter comparisons, Arabic RTL implementation, UAE payment gateway integration, and App Store submission guides — from our Dubai mobile development team.
Mobile app development is the category where UAE business owners most consistently underestimate cost and overestimate delivery speed. The mental model of 'an app costs AED 10,000–20,000 and takes 6 weeks' comes from freelancer quotes for simple showcase apps — not from building a business application that needs to handle offline sync, Arabic RTL, UAE payment gateways, user authentication, backend APIs, and ongoing App Store maintenance. A properly scoped UAE business mobile app costs AED 30,000–250,000 and takes 8–20 weeks, depending on what it actually needs to do.
The guides in this hub cover mobile app development from the decision stage through to post-launch maintenance. Platform choice (React Native vs Flutter vs native iOS and Android) affects cost, timeline, and long-term maintainability. Arabic RTL support requires specific engineering — not just CSS mirroring — and adds meaningful cost when not planned for from the start. UAE payment gateway integration (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Network International) has its own complexity and application process. Each of these is covered in detail in the articles below.
All guides are written by Softaxis's mobile development team in Dubai. We have built driver apps for UAE logistics companies, customer apps for UAE retailers, field inspection apps for UAE construction firms, and warehouse tools for UAE manufacturers.

Mobile app development in the UAE costs AED 30,000–250,000+. A focused MVP or internal business tool (iOS + Android, up to 5 screens, simple backend) costs AED 30,000–80,000 and takes 8–12 weeks. A full-featured business app (logistics driver app, customer loyalty app, multi-role field tool) costs AED 80,000–160,000 and takes 12–18 weeks. A complex platform app with real-time features, multiple user types, and deep integrations costs AED 160,000+. These ranges include both iOS and Android — React Native or Flutter produces a single codebase for both platforms.
Both React Native and Flutter produce high-quality iOS and Android apps from a single codebase. React Native uses JavaScript, which most UAE web development teams already know — making it easier to maintain or extend after delivery. Flutter uses Dart (less common) but produces very consistent UI rendering across iOS and Android. Both have strong Arabic RTL support. For most UAE business applications (logistics apps, customer portals, field tools, e-commerce), React Native is the more practical choice due to the larger developer ecosystem and lower maintenance cost. Flutter is preferred for design-heavy consumer apps where pixel-perfect cross-platform rendering matters more.
Yes — but Arabic RTL in a mobile app requires deliberate engineering, not a checkbox. Proper Arabic RTL support means: all UI elements mirror (navigation, buttons, icons), Arabic text renders correctly in all components, Arabic keyboard input is handled, date and number formats are Arabic-appropriate, and bilingual content switching works correctly. React Native and Flutter both support RTL, but it must be built into the architecture from the start. Adding RTL to an app that was not designed for it is significantly more expensive than designing for RTL from day one — which is why we always ask about Arabic requirements during discovery.
UAE mobile apps use Apple Pay and Google Pay for in-app purchases (both require developer account setup and Apple/Google review), plus UAE-specific payment gateways for card payments: Network International (UAE's primary card acquirer), Telr, PayTabs, and Stripe. For buy-now-pay-later (BNPL), Tabby and Tamara are widely used in UAE consumer apps. Each gateway has its own SDK, integration requirements, and approval process. We include payment gateway integration in all e-commerce and consumer-facing app builds.
Mobile apps require ongoing maintenance: iOS and Android OS updates (typically 2–3 major versions per year) can break functionality and require testing and fixes. App Store policy changes occasionally require app updates for compliance. User feedback drives ongoing feature development. Most UAE businesses budget AED 3,000–8,000/month for ongoing app maintenance — covering OS compatibility updates, bug fixes, and small feature additions. Apps that are not maintained become incompatible with new iOS/Android versions within 12–18 months.
